Thank you for visiting! I’m Shelley, an artist and writer living in the Pacific Northwest. For as far back as I can remember, I've had a love for learning and an insatiable energy to make things. I’m still exploring the path God has for me, but He has given me the gift of working with my hands and creating stories through craft and has allowed me to discover a love for the process of learning as well as an appreciation for the ritual of practicing and perfecting new skills.

I chose the name "story" for my business because I have always loved stories - from my background in literary studies to learning the histories of materials and techniques - and I enjoy how stories connect me with others. I hope the same for this space and this work.

My creative work flows from my desire to point others to God’s goodness and beauty. Throughout my life i’ve experienced several periods of darkness, anxiety, and depression, and what has helped me through (alongside counseling and the prayers of others) has been focusing on the incredible natural beauty of the world around me, which leads me back to God’s goodness. I hope in some small way to reflect this beauty for others and shine a light for those experiencing darkness.

For this reason most of my designs remain playful and organic or are focused on honoring creation. Whether I am celebrating new life with a baby mobile, honoring the life of a beloved pet with a memorial portrait, or bringing beauty to daily life with a necklace or piece of decor, I strive to work with excellence and faithfulness so that my work may reflect the beauty and goodness of the creator of all.

“…Whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things.” - Philippians 4:8

“I remain confident of this: I will see the goodness of the LORD in the land of the living. Wait for the LORD; be strong and take heart and wait for the LORD.” - Psalm 27:13-14
